About

WakeWare is a robust student computing program that recommends highly configured, insured, and supported personal computing devices at a negotiated price for our undergraduate students.

Launched in 2016, WakeWare ensures undergraduate students are well prepared for academic life at Wake Forest. As all students are required to have a laptop, WakeWare provides students the opportunity to purchase a specially selected laptop configured to run academic technology at a negotiated price, bundled with extended warranties and protection, and are provided with on-campus support. WakeWare evaluates new models as available to be able to offer the most up to date technology to our students.

Each year, nearly 60% of incoming freshmen will purchase a WakeWare laptop before arriving on campus for the fall.

Powerful Computers at Negotiated Prices

Since there are no public computing labs on campus, it is important our students have primary computing devices that can handle academic software, regardless of their major. We work closely with our partners at the bookstore and our computer vendors to be able to offer competitive pricing. WakeWare thus, provides affordable options to make sure every student has access to a personal, and high-quality device.

Model Selection

We understand that having options is important to our students. That’s why each year we ensure there are Mac and Windows options available through the program. Within these lines, students have the choice of upgrading certain models for more power, a different color, or a larger screen size.

Unparalleled Support

WakeWare computers are insured for four years with an extended warranty and accidental damage protection. Call, email, chat, or stop by to work with one of our Service Desk Analysts. If your laptop is ever in need of repair, drop off your laptop at the Service Desk, conveniently located in the atrium of the ZSR Library, and one of our licensed technicians will handle your repair. There, you will be issued a loaner laptop for the duration your laptop is being repaired.

All WakeWare laptops are bundled with third-party warranty bundles to make sure you are able to get your laptop repaired when away from campus. Visit the I Already Have WakeWare Laptop page to learn how to service your laptop away from campus.

Technology Equity

A University priority is ensuring all students have access to robust technology so that they are successful in their academic endeavors. That is why we provide Technology Grants to any incoming undergraduate student who has received any form of institutional aid within their first two years. Bringing Your Own Device – BYOD

If you want to Bring Your Own Device to Campus, check and see if your device meets the Minimum Configuration Requirements, set each spring.

WakeWare is open for purchasing all year long both in-store and online, so no worries if you bring a device you find does not meet your needs. Take advantage of WakeWare’s discounted prices during your tenure at Wake Forest.
