We have prepared the following list of pre-check items for you to consider prior to your Computer Exchange date. Knowing the answers to these several questions will best ensure a smooth transition to your new device. Supporting documentation to assist you in finding the answers is provided with each question.
Tool Tip
You may find it helpful to screenshot information as you work through each question. Be sure to save your screenshots to Google Drive or to a file that is backed up by CrashPlan so you will be able to access them on your new computer!
Take a screenshot on a Windows computer:
Open the Snipping Tool in the Start menu
Click New

Hold down Command+Shift+4, which turns your cursor into a crosshairs

Let’s get started!
For example, Microsoft Office has an enterprise license but Titanium does not. Click on the appropriate link to view your apps and take one or more screenshots to assist in the setup of your new computer.
Click on the appropriate link to view your shared drives. Note the specific drive (as opposed to a letter) and the drive’s path. Take one or more screenshots to assist in the setup of your new computer.
Take a look at your printers and make a note of which printers you’ll want to connect to on your new device.
CrashPlan should be installed on your computer and you can verify this by locating the CrashPlan icon in your system tray (Windows – bottom right) or menu bar (Mac – top right).
Click on the icon and log in using your wfu.edu Google account. You can then verify that the backup of your computer is successful.
Files not included in your CrashPlan backup include files stored in a folder within the Documents directory called personal_data or files/folders folders stored on the root of the hard drive (C:) or Macintosh HD.) Make a note or take a screenshot of any personal files or folders and back up these files using a system or storage drive of your choice that you’ll be able to access with your new computer.
If you have browser settings and bookmarks that you’d like to have on your new computer, visit Keep your browser settings and take screenshots of your settings.
Look at your current device and note what is plugged into it. Now click on your new device link below to see what you’ll be able to plug into your new device (without an adaptor).
Be sure to bring your current laptop, charging cable,
and Google 2-step device to your exchange!
