WFU VPN
Securely and conveniently access campus resources when away from campus by connecting through our Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Installation Instructions
Follow these instructions to install the Cisco Secure Client VPN Client on your computer:
- Download installer.
- If prompted, login with your WFU Google account. Click Download and Download Anyway.
- Locate the downloaded file and double-click to begin installation.
- If prompted with Windows protected your PC, click More info.
- Click Run anyway.
- The installation will begin.
- Once complete, click Ok.
- To launch, click on the Windows/Start button and search for Cisco Secure Client. Click Cisco Secure Client Mobility Client to launch the application.
- Click Connect.
- Authenticate using your WFU Google account.
- You will now be connected securely via VPN to the WFU network.
Follow these instructions to install the Cisco Secure Client VPN Client on your computer:
- Download for Student, Faculty, or Staff.
- If prompted, login with your WFU Google account. Click Download and Download Anyway.
- Locate the downloaded file and double-click to begin installation.
- If prompted with Windows protected your PC, click More info.
- Click Run anyway.
- The installation will begin.
- Once complete, click Ok.
- To launch, open the Windows Menu and search for Cisco Secure Client. Click Cisco Secure Client Secure Mobility Client to launch the application.
- Click Connect.
- Authenticate using your WFU Google account.
- You will now be connected securely via VPN to the WFU network.
Follow these instructions to install the Cisco Secure Client VPN on your computer:
- Download installer.
- If prompted, login with your WFU Google account. Click Download.
- Locate and double-click the downloaded file in Finder.
- Right-click the WFUCiscoSecureConnect.pkg and click Open.
- Click Open.
- Click Continue and step through the wizard.
- Click Install. Enter your Mac’s password and click Install Software.
- When the Attention Required pop-up appears, click the red X in the top-left corner to close that message.
- On the next message, click Open System Preferences.
- Click Allow. You can then close out of System Preferences.
- Once the installation is complete, click Close and Move to Trash.
- Locate the Cisco Secure Client application and launch.
- In the field, type “vpn.wfu.edu”. Click Connect. Enter your WFU username and password. Click OK.
- You will now be connected securely via VPN to the WFU network.
Connection Issues
If you receive any errors when attempting to connect to VPN, please follow these steps for a fix:
- Completely close the Cisco Secure Client app.
- Click this link to download file.
- Double-click .zip file to open.
- Double-click on the Kickstart VPN.app to run fix.
- Attempt to connect to VPN once again.
Follow these instructions to install the Cisco Secure Client VPN on your computer:
- Click the appropriate link: Student, Faculty, or Staff.
- If prompted, login with your WFU Google account. Click Download.
- Locate and double-click the downloaded file in Finder.
- Right-click the WFUCiscoSecureConnect.pkg and click Open.
- Click Open.
- Click Continue and step through the wizard.
- Click Install. Enter your Mac’s password and click Install Software.
- When the Attention Required pop-up appears, click the red X in the top-left corner to close that message.
- On the next message, click Open System Preferences.
- Click Allow. You can then close out of System Preferences.
- Once the installation is complete, click Close and Move to Trash.
- Locate the Cisco Secure Client application and launch.
- In the field, type “vpn.wfu.edu”. Click Connect. Enter your WFU username and password. Click OK.
- You will now be connected securely via VPN to the WFU network.
Connection Issues
If you receive any errors when attempting to connect to VPN, please follow these steps for a fix:
- Completely close the Cisco Secure Client app.
- Click this link to download file.
- Double-click .zip file to open.
- Double-click on the Fix Secure Connect VPN.app to run fix.
- Attempt to connect to VPN once again.
