Live Auto-Transcription Globally Enabled in Zoom

All meeting hosts will now see a Live Transcript button in their host toolbar during meetings.

Hosts must select the Live Transcript button and Enable Auto-Transcription during a meeting to make the transcription available to attendees. We highly recommend hosts do this at the beginning of each meeting for the best attendee experience. As we develop the habit of enabling this useful accessibility feature, we encourage attendees to remind meeting hosts to enable live transcription, if not yet enabled, to preemptively accommodate attendee’s needs.

New Zoom Cloud Recording Retention Limits Effective June 15

Beginning next Tuesday, June 15th, a retention limit for Zoom Cloud recordings will be enabled to ensure we stay within our campus storage capacity in the future. Any Zoom Cloud recordings that are 180 days or older will be moved to your Zoom trash. Items in your trash will remain accessible for 30 days. Zoom will send automated notifications to users seven days prior to permanent deletion.

Each year the Office of Student Engagement hosts an annual awards ceremony to honor student organizations, student leaders, advisors, and special events throughout the year. Verizon Hot Spot Recall Notification

Verizon has issued a recall on their Ellipsis Jetpack mobile hotspot devices and will be replacing impacted units. Impacted WFU users have been notified via email and will be notified of device replacement details when available.

Be Aware of Recent Phishing Scams

The IRS has warned that impersonation scams targeting “.edu” email accounts are prevalent. Recent scams include Impersonating the IRS, using the IRS logo, and containing subject lines such as “Tax Refund Payment” or “Recalculation of your tax refund payment.” Remember that the IRS, banks, or other institutions will never ask for personal information via email.
