Learning Management Systems

Charter
The Learning Management Systems (LMS) initiative team will convene faculty and staff with primary roles in supporting the LMS to share best practices, discuss LMS support challenges and identify emerging or unmet needs. The LMS is sponsored by the Committee on Information Technology (CIT) and will report goals and recommendations to it.
The LMS team will be appointed by the CIT in consultation with the CIO and the Director of the Teaching and Learning Collaborative. Its membership will include representation from the faculty of the College and the professional schools as well as ITGs and professional school IT support teams. Representatives from IS, Online Learning, the library and the Teaching and Learning Collaborative should also participate in this community.
The CIT in consultation with the CIO will appoint a chair and vice chair for the community to host its meetings, plan agendas, facilitate discussion and report outcomes.
The specific charge to the LMS team is to:
- Identify and share information about how faculty are leveraging the capabilities of the LMS and related technologies widely used to support teaching and learning at Wake;
- Report recurring issues and challenges in the use of the LMS by faculty or students to IS and the Teaching and Learning Collaborative;
- Advise on the prioritization of improvements to the adopted LMS tool to turn on new features or incorporate additional third party products;
- Support analyses, at the request of the CIT, of emerging requirements for new LMS capabilities and monitor developments in the available solutions used at peer institutions;
- Convene forums to provide professional development opportunities for staff supporting faculty and students in the use of the LMS;
The LMS team will meet at the discretion of the chair and vice chair. Administrative support to coordinate meeting locations, communications and reporting of meeting outcomes will be provided by the Office of the CIO.
