Phishing Scam Targeting Students
We want to bring to your attention a recent phishing scam that has targeted some of our students. This scam involves a fraudulent job opportunity email that appears to be associated with a Wake Forest University (WFU) faculty member. The email has been sent to personal non-WFU email addresses and may deceive recipients into believing it is a legitimate job offer.
What You Need to Know:
- Email Content: The phishing email falsely claims to be from a WFU faculty member offering a job opportunity.
- Target: Some students received this email on their personal non-WFU email addresses.
- Action Required: Do not respond to or engage with this email. If you have received it, delete it immediately.
How to Protect Yourself:
- Verify Sources: Always verify the legitimacy of job offers or any communication that seems unusual or unexpected.
- Check Email Addresses: Ensure that emails claiming to be from WFU or its faculty come from official WFU email addresses.
- Report Suspicious Emails: If you receive any suspicious emails, report them to our Information Security team immediately.
