William Cochran
About William
William Cochran is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Computer Science and an Affiliate of the Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University. A philosopher and classicist by training, he explores how Aristotelian virtue ethics can guide the responsible development and wise use of AI and other emerging technologies. In the classroom, Cochran teaches courses on technology ethics, responsible computing, and the place of AI in human life. Building on his work as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Harvard University’s Embedded EthiCS program, he also integrates ethics modules across the CS curriculum, particularly in technical courses focused on developing AI systems. In doing so, he aims to help tomorrow’s technologists steer AI toward human flourishing.
