Autumn Reflections: Sharing, Giving, and Growing with Technology
By Sabrina Mack
When we think of November, a lot comes to mind — the end of the semester, the excitement (and rush!) of the holidays, and plans for the new term ahead. It’s also the season of cozy sweaters, colorful leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and maybe a little too much apple cider. Most of all, it’s a season for sharing and giving — a reminder to look out for one another.
In the world of technology, sharing and connecting are at the heart of what we do. One of my favorite examples of this is my involvement with the Learning Technology Consortium (LTC) — a group of 10 institutions from across the U.S. that meet twice a year to swap ideas, showcase innovation, and troubleshoot challenges together. But it’s more than just a professional network; it’s a community. We celebrate each other’s successes, swap photos of our kids and pets, and genuinely care about one another. That sense of connection is what keeps our work fresh and meaningful.
A big topic that’s front and center for all of us right now is accessibility. Every institution wants to make sure they’re ready for the upcoming changes to accessibility standards — and here at Wake Forest, we’re lucky to have a dedicated Accessibility Team within Information Services. They’re here to help faculty navigate this evolving landscape and ensure our learning environments are accessible to all students. If you have questions or need support, don’t hesitate to reach out — they’re ready to help. https://accessibility.wfu.edu/technology-accessibility-team/
As we move through this season of gratitude and generosity, I want to remind our community that Information Services has many resources designed to make your work easier — whether it’s classroom tech, digital tools, or accessibility support. Don’t wait until something breaks — reach out, explore, and see how we can partner with you.
Wishing everyone a joyful, productive, and restorative November. Take time to share, give, and connect — it’s one of the most rewarding things we can do.
