Information for Wake Forest Graduates

Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!

In advance of graduation, we recommend some important tasks, which we’ll outline below. If you have questions concerning any of this information, please contact the Service Desk at help@wfu.edu, call 336-758-4357 (HELP), or live chat at is.wfu.edu.

WFU Account

Sixty (60) days following graduation, your WFU account will be disabled. This means that the sites that you use your Wake Forest username and password (e.g. username@wfu.edu) to authenticate will not be accessible with this login information at that 60 day mark. To prevent disruption and ensure you maintain access to the materials you need, we recommend the following steps:

Activate your new Wake Forest Alumni Google Account. You may wish to maintain a Wake Forest email address after graduation. Activate your Alumni Gmail.

Student Mail, Drive and Docs files in your WFU Google Account may be moved to a new or existing personal Google account. Students may use Google Takeout to easily transfer WFU Gmail and Google Drive data through an automated process, which transfers Gmail labels/folders and your current Google Drive folder. Some transfers can take up to a week, so please start this process as soon as you can. Learn how to transfer your WFU Google files using Google Takeout.

Migrate Adobe Creative Cloud assets to a personal account. See Adobe’s helpful how-to guide.

Don’t get stranded in any future password changes for other non-Wake Forest sites. Remember, the “forgot password” function on many sites often works by sending you an email. We really like this article that helps to identify sites that use a particular email address. Think of any other sites that you’ve linked to your @wfu.edu email address, and search through email to find any “welcome to…” new user emails. Update your social media, music platforms, applications, and services associated with your WFU Google Account, and change the account email address to one you’ll be able to use long-term.

If you’ve used WFU’s Dropbox for data backup and storage, and need those materials after graduation, consider transferring those files to a personal account. Submit a ticket to IS to request a data transfer to a personal Dropbox account.

Request your Wake Forest alum Handshake Account, so that you may continue using Handshake to explore job postings, connect with more than 24,000 employers, and view a personalized feed with custom recommendations for you.

Connect your LinkedIn Learning account to your LinkedIn profile, to ensure you retain access to see and transfer your personal LinkedIn Learning history in the future, from your LinkedIn account. You may also wish to check out LinkedIn Learning personal subscription and free trial options.

Move your OneDrive/Office 365 files to a personal account so that you are able to take your OneDrive files with you when you graduate.

WakeSites – create a Reclaim Hosting account so that you may take your domain and hosting with you when you graduate. Check out our Migrate your WakeSites Account to Reclaim Hosting article to get started. Reclaim Hosting charges an annual fee for this service.

Zoom – Download any Cloud Recordings. Once your WFU account is deleted, you will no longer be able to log into Zoom and access any meetings you have recorded and saved to your cloud account. Before your account is deleted, log into Zoom and download any cloud recorded meetings you wish to save. You may sign up for a free Zoom account with your new email to continue connecting with your friends. You can also learn more about Zoom pro accounts and pricing on the Zoom website.

Uninstall Cisco AnyConnect and Umbrella. To ensure you don’t run into issues that come from the end of Cisco licensing (programs such as Umbrella (protects browsing) and AnyConnect (WFU’s VPN service), please remove these from your personally-owned laptop(s) and devices prior to leaving Wake Forest.

Keep in touch! Go into WakeNetwork and provide Wake Forest with an updated primary email address.
