In preparation for a full rollout of Kaltura this spring, Information Systems and the Instructional Technology Group are hosting multiple sessions of a faculty training workshop, Getting Started with Kaltura: A Brief Overview, in December. Join the Kaltura Support team in a virtual session to learn what you can do with your media content.
Faculty defined a need for a video hosting platform that also included screen capture, lecture capture, live broadcast interactive video capabilities, as well as a robust video editor. Information Systems, in collaboration with members from the ITG, and The Media, piloted Kaltura in late summer. Based on the positive results of the pilot and the soft rollout this Fall, Kaltura is now the tool of choice for video platform management.
Faculty currently using Kaltura are finding it meets their video managing and hosting needs while engaging students and creating new learning experiences. Some highlights of Kaltura include that it:
- Integrates with Canvas seamlessly
- Allows users to produce interactive videos and quizzes, apply closed captioning, and utilize a built-in-editor
- Specializes in housing video content much like YouTube
Watch for additional training with new topics to be hosted in the spring semester.
