Move WFU mail to personal email address – Google Mail Fetcher


Use these instructions to fetch all of the emails within your @wfu.edu and move them to a personal @gmail.com account. This will need to be done before your account is deleted from the WFU system.

Make sure POP is enabled

(In your @wfu.edu Google Mail account)

  1. In your @wfu.edu email account, click on the  gear in the top right and choose Settings.

  1. Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.

  2. Under POP Download: click the circle beside Enable POP for all mail.

  1. Click Save Changes at bottom of screen.
  2. Allow Less secure Apps setting HERE needs to be turned ON

Setting up Mail Fetcher:

(In your @gmail.com personal account)

  1. In your @gmail.com email account, click on the  gear in the top right and choose Settings.

  2. Open the Accounts Tab.

  3. Choose the Add a POP3 mail account in the Check mail from other accounts (using POP3) section.

  1. Enter your full email address:  YourUserName@wfu.edu. Then click on Next Step>.

  1. Make sure the settings match this screenshot. **Label incoming messages: is optional.
  1. Then click on Add Account>.

  2. Choose No (you can change this later) and then click Finish.

At this point, Gmail will start pulling your @wfu.edu emails and dumping them into your personal @gmail.com account. Depending on quantity and size of emails you have, this will take time. This process will continue in the background for as long as it takes and will continue as new mail arrives.
