Windows 7 & 8 VPN Installation and Profile Import

  • Click this link to download the Cisco VPN IPSec client.
  • Click Download in the middle of the page.

  • Once downloaded, locate the .exe file and double-click to begin installation.

  • Click Next > to step through the installation process.
  • Once the installation is complete, open the Cisco VPN Client.
  • Click the Import button.

  • Locate and select the downloaded VPN Profile .pcf file that was sent to you from Information Systems.
  • Once the import is complete, you will receive a message that it was successful.
  • Click to highlight the VPN Profile listed and click Connect.

  • Once prompted, enter your WFU username and password.

  • The VPN Client will disappear and you will find a lock icon in your System Tray. The lock indicates that you are now connected securely through VPN to WFU resources.

**Please note: If you run into any issues with installing the VPN client or getting the profile imported, you must contact your company’s IT Department for assistance. If you are having issues with resource connectivity once connected to VPN, please contact your WFU sponsor for assistance. If you are having VPN password related issues, please contact the WFU Information Systems Services Desk at 336.758.4357.


Windows 10 VPN Installation and Profile Import

  • Click this link to download a free IPSec VPN client from Shrew Soft.
  • Once the download is complete, locate the .exe file, and double-click to begin installation.

  • Click Next >  to step through the installation process.
  • When it asks for the Software Edition, click to select Standard Edition, and then click Next >.

  • Double-click the VPN Access Manager icon on your Desktop to open the application.

  • Click File and Import.

  • Once the Import VPN File window appears, change the file type (at the bottom-right) to Cisco PCF File (*.pcf), locate and select the WFU .pcf file that was sent to you by Information Systems, and click Open.

  • Double-click the VPN profile located within the VPN Access Manager.

  • Once prompted, enter your WFU username and password and click Connect.
  • You are connected securely to WFU resources once tunnel enabled appears.

**Please note: If you run into any issues with installing the VPN client or getting the profile imported, you must contact your company’s IT Department for assistance. Mac OS X VPN Setup

  • Open System Preferences by clicking on the Apple icon in the top-left corner.

  • Click to open Network preferences.

  • In the bottom-left, click the + symbol. From the drop down menus, choose VPN, Cisco IPSec, and type WFU VPN. Click Create.

  • In the Server Address field, type 152.17.244.46. Enter your WFU username in Account Name field and leave the Password field blank. Click to check Show VPN status in menu bar. Click to open Authentication Settings…

  • Type the provided Shared Secret and Group Name in the appropriate fields and click OK.

  • Click the VPN icon in the menu bar and click Connect WFU VPN.

  • Once prompted, enter your WFU password. You will now be connect securely to WFU resources.
**Please note: If you run into any issues with setting up VPN on your Mac, you must contact your company’s IT Department for assistance.
