The Wake Forest makerspace, WakerSpace, is a great outlet for the multimodal and digital culture at Wake Forest. The challenges associated with the pandemic have created new opportunities for the WakerSpace. Due to social distancing protocols, we have had to look for new and creative ways to utilize the space.
- Hosted a first year seminar on Creativity, led by Dr. Sam Gladding, WakerSpace Fellow.
- Supported our local community by utilizing the 3D printer to create 6,600 mask clips for hospital workers at Wake Forest Baptist Health and for our Student Health Service team.
- Added to the existing line-up of virtual workshops by hosting special Adobe Bootcamp-themed VirtShops for InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Spark Page. All virtshops promote the underlying themes of improving and enhancing skillsets while learning new ways to communicate and stay connected virtually!
- Sponsored a Take and Make Challenge project each week. Participants safely drop by the WakerSpace, pick up the T&M Challenge project bag, take it home and make the project. Zoom meetings provide an outlet for instruction, sharing, and socializing!
